The most consistent offensive threat for the ADM boys basketball team this season has been sophomore Matt Larson, who leads ADM with 15.5 points per game. If the 1-5 Tigers are to bounce back from their rough start following winter break, Larson will need a couple of other players to help shoulder the scoring load.
ADM is averaging just 57 points per game this year, including an average of 50 points over their last three contests. Larson is shooting 42 percent from the floor, a number that was as high as 53 percent through the first three games but that was dragged down by a brief two-game shooting slump.
He snapped out of the slump on Friday against Ballard with a 15 point, 5-of-11 shooting performance. Larson has scored in double figures in five of ADM’s six games and is second on the team in 3-point shooting at 35 percent.
No other starter for ADM averages double digits in scoring, and four of the five starters are shooting 39 percent or lower. In wake of the blowout loss to Ballard that ADM head coach Aaron Mager referred to as a “debacle,” nine varsity players showed up to voluntary shooting sessions on Monday.
ADM resumes full practices on Saturday. The Tigers’ next game isn’t until Saturday, January 3 at home against Dallas-Center Grimes.
