There have been a couple of bad accidents in Guthrie County this year where deer were involved. Sheriff Marty Arganbright says some of the worse accidents are from people who veer away from the deer and end up rolling their vehicle into a ditch, “The deer are running, all the crops are gone, so there’s not a lot of coverage for them, so they run. I’ve always said be prepared in spots marked deer crossing, those places are marked of reason, there’s a heavy deer population, slow down be prepared to run out for a deer to run in front of you, and don’t veer for deer.”
The damage from striking the animal is oftentimes much safer and less costly than rolling or vehicle, or swerving into an oncoming vehicle.
