The first large snow storm of the year, and largest thus far this season dumped half a foot of snow on the Perry area late Monday.
The City’s snow ordinance was put into effect that afternoon and continues until this afternoon due to the blowing snow.
City Administrator Butch Niebuhr says thanks to all of the citizens that had their vehicles off the street during the storm. The Perry Police Department reported very few instances where residents left their vehicles on the street and no citations were issued during the storm. Niebuhr says the City can be thankful for a very professional public works crew that works hard to clean the streets of Perry, and are assisted by the Parks and Cemetery Departments and Perry Police.
Crews are expected to continue clearing streets and sidewalks for the next day or so as needed due to the high winds. Niebuhr encourages everyone to be thoughtful and courteous as the crews go about their work.
