There might be a postseason feel tonight at the Perry Sports Pavillion as the Perry Jayettes play host to Winterset. Both teams are 3-1 in RRC play and trail Ballard by a mere game. Both teams have explosive stars with Winterset’s Mariah Chriswell anchoring the Husky offense. Perry Head Coach Mike Long knows these games are important not just for the conference race, but more so for the regional seeding which will take place early next month. The Jayettes won a low scoring game over ADM on Tuesday 45-30. Perry was able to get production from Emma Olejniczak and Taylor Lathrum. The sophomore Olejniczak scored a season high 12 points while Lathrum added 7 points and 8 rebounds in limited action.
“I think a big difference in my game this year has been my improved strength,” added Lathrum. “Maggie Lowe’s father (Tom) spent a lot time with us in the weight room this summer and fall and I really feel stronger in the legs and that has given me some extra confidence. I owe a lot to him for the hard work and showing me the fundamentals in the weight room.”
Perry and Winterset will tip at 6 tonight with the pregame show at 5:45 on AM 1310 KDLS and raccoonvalleyradio.com with Shawn Kenney.
