Jake-ChapmanIowa’s State Senators and Representatives head back to the capital today for the start of the 86th Iowa General Assembly.

District 10 State Senator Jake Chapman of Adel says the primary issue he sees facing the legislature this session is the budget.

“I suspect it will be a very challenging year when it comes to the budget.  The last two years I have been warning that we are heading down a path that is not sustainable for the future.  The revenue estimating conference recently met and we’re showing still, despite the fact that we have an extra $340 million dollars, our expenditures are going to out pace our revenues by $200 million and for fiscal year 2016 it’s close to $300 million” says Chapman.

We will have more with Senator Chapman in our first legislative discussion of the year on today’s Let’s Talk Dallas County during the 9am, noon and 5pm hours on AM 1310 KDLS.
