For the second consecutive game, the ADM girls basketball team hung tough with a ranked opponent on the road. Unfortunately for the Tigers, the ending was the same.

ADM played an excellent three quarters of basketball Tuesday at the No. 4 Carlisle Wildcats, but were outdone by a poor fourth quarter in their 52-46 loss. It was the Tigers sixth straight loss, as they fell to 3-7 overall and 1-5 in Raccoon River Conference play.

Unlike in ADM’s loss to No. 1 Harlan on Saturday, the Tigers had a three-point lead entering the fourth quarter. But the Wildcats exploded for 20 points in the fourth quarter to ADM’s 11.

“As I told the girls in the locker room, we had a good performance, we played strong. But we’re to the point in the season where we had  rough stretch and it seems like we’ve turned that around — the time for moral victories is over with,” Tigers head coach Corey Schneider said. We need to get some wins. It doesn’t matter if we’re playing the No. 4 ranked team in the state or an unranked team.

“When you have a chance to seal the deal, we’ve got to finish stronger than we did tonight.”

The Tigers were lead in scoring by Brianna Mueller’s 16 points, 10 coming in the second half, for her third consecutive game in double figures. Sydney Bertman also scored in double figures with 10.

The Wildcats were paced by four double figure scorers, lead by Kaleigh Haus’ 12 points, 10 in the second half. Payton Keeney had 11 points, and Shelbie Curry and Agatha Beier had 10 a piece. Carlisle maintained its hold on second place in the conference standings by improving to 5-1 in the RRC and 10-1 overall.
