dallas countyThe Dallas County Board of Supervisors met in regular session yesterday.

At the meeting Jim Caufield of Perry addressed the Board in regards to voting for the master matrix, the scoring system used by the Department of Natural Resources to evaluate proposed sites for confinement feeding operations.  Caufield asked the Supervisors if they plan to vote in favor of it, later encouraging them to do so on behalf of a friend who could not be in attendance.  Board Chairman Brad Golightly informed him that they already voted for it at their last meeting in December.

After approving the consent agenda and January 6th meeting minutes, the Board approved payroll change notices for the Sheriff’s Office as requested.  A safety recommendations response letter was then approved in regards to recommendations made after a December site visit.  At a future meeting the Board plans to appoint a safety coordinator and committee to provide recommendations to the Supervisors and department heads in the future.

Next the board approved a single axle truck purchase in the amount of $71,058 for the Road Department.  The 2015 Peterbilt truck is the same as one purchased by the department earlier this fiscal year.  The actual price of the vehicle is $83,558, though the county will be receiving $12,500 for the trade-in of a 2007 truck they’ve had since the summer of 2006.

A wetland mitigation credit purchase with the City of West Des Moines was then approved for 0.51 credits, which gives them a balance of 18.99 credits for the City.  The County has 16.3 credits available in hand at this time.

Marilyn Gliem, Scott Pope and John Bunz were then appointed to the Board of Adjustment.

The meeting recessed by 9:17am before Employee Performance Appraisals for the Central Point of Coordination administrator, planning and development director, board administrative assistant, human resources director, operations administrator, EMS director and county engineer.
