The PCM (Monroe) Mustangs swept a Heart of Iowa Activities Conference doubleheader from Greene County on Tuesday night in the middle school gym in Jefferson on KG98. PCM won 67-31 in the girls’ game and 65-47 in the boys’ contest. The Mustangs improved to 8-3 overall and 8-1 in the girls’ HOIAC race, while the PCM boys are now 7-1 in the league and 8-2 overall. The Greene County girls have dropped six games in a row and are 4-7 overall and 4-5 in league play, while the Greene County boys are 4-6 overall and 4-4 in the conference after suffering their sixth loss in the last seven games.

PCM had a continuous clock in their favor the last 10 minutes of the girls’ game. Rachel Freland had 19 points. Kayla Mobley scored 11 for the Rams.

On the boys’ side, PCM led 23-5 early in the second quarter, but the Rams were within 44-39 with 4:53 to go. PCM then went on a 17-2 run that took just over two minutes. Logan Gilman had 14 points to lead four Mustangs in double figures. Trey Tucker led the Rams with 14 points, who were held to a season low by a dozen points. Greene County played without four-year varsity player Landon Braun due to illness.

The Rams are home on Friday, Jan. 16 vs. Colfax-Mingo on KG98. Coverage begins at 5:45 p.m. with the girls playing at 6 p.m. and the boys to follow.
