Greene County Medical Center capital campaign received some major support by area businesses to close out 2014.
The “Investing in Tomorrow’s Care” campaign started a little more than a year ago with a goal of reaching $4 million. A total of $95,000 came from five businesses to push the total up to 79% by the end of last year.
$50,000 was pledged by UnityPoint Health-Des Moines which the medical center is an affiliate of UnityPoint Health System, $20,000 was pledged by 21st Century Rehab of Nevada, MacDonald Insurance of Scranton pledged $15,000 and $5,000 was donated each by Hy-Vee Food Store in Jefferson and Louis Dreyfus Commodities in Grand Junction.
The campaign started with a $2 million anonymous donation followed by $102,000 from staff members and $54,000 from the Board of Trustees.
Foundation Director Hollie Roberts says the next step for the campaign is to reach the 85% mark by mid-summer and after the expansion project is complete, then they will turn their attention to public donations and pledges.
