pic 3Greene County Medical Center’s building expansion project had heavy-duty pieces of equipment that was installed yesterday.

Director of Plant Operations Steve Hagen says a special crane was brought in early Thursday morning to hoist two new air handler units that combined to weigh 70,000 pounds.  It is a new air-conditioning and heating system for the new addition on the east side of the medical center campus.

The two units were carried up in nine pieces by a crane with the heaviest piece weighing in at 17,000 pounds.  Woodruff Construction installed each piece onto the roof.  From the street, the public will not be able to see the massive units due to a false front around the outside.

Trane is the manufacturer and Hagen points out that they wanted to have newer units because the current air handlers are 20 years-old.  To view a video, click HERE.
