Jefferson LibraryThe Jefferson Public Library is hosting their sixth annual Adult Winter Reading Program.

Library Director Jane Millard says this year’s theme is “Reading is So Delicious” and it highlights their collection of books with a food or cooking theme.

She states that there are books on restaurant romances, time-honored kitchen traditions, chuck wagon cooking on a cattle drive, discovering popular TV chef’s bumpy road to fame and even an Iowa pie maker living in the American Gothic house.

Participants will earn prizes by completing activities in their packets, attending different programs and reading books.  Last year, there were 368 total books that were read during the two-month program.

All books that are read during the program count including those read to a child, books on CD’s and reading them electronically.unnamed

A prize will be given to the person who reads the most pages and a drawing for a grand prize will be at their final party in March.

The Adult Winter Reading Program is going on now through March 14th.  Anyone who is interested can stop by the library to pick up an activity packet.  The program is free and is open to anyone with a library from the adult department.
