Greene County’s varsity basketball teams snapped losing streaks on Friday night with victories over winless Colfax-Mingo they hope will springboard them to strong second halves of their seasons.
Coach Chad Morton’s Greene County girls had lost six games in a row before downing the Tigerhawks 55-30 and now stand at 5-7 overall and 5-5 in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference.
Coach Jeramie Hinote’s Greene County boys are 5-6 overall and 5-4 in conference play after their win over C-M. Prior to Friday, the Rams had lost three straight games and six their previous seven.
Next up is a girl/boy doubleheader in the middle school gym in Jefferson vs. CMB (Maxwell). Coverage on KG98 begins at 5:45 p.m. with the girls’ game at 6 p.m. and the boys to follow. The Rams won both ends of the Dec. 5 twin bill vs. CMB in Baxter and will try for a four-game sweep of the season series tomorrow night.
