The Stuart Police Department has had one of their officers hired away to a nearby law enforcement agency. Lieutenant Mike Algreen is leaving the department for the Adair County Sheriff’s Department, but he says it’s not because he dislikes Stuart or the department, he told the city council while addressing his resignation that he just wanted a change of scenery. Ryan Harding will replace Algreen as lieutenant of the department.  The Stuart Police Department is currently accepting applications for the positions of full-time officer, part-time officer and volunteer reserve officer.
