The Perry Jayette basketball team will look to get back on track tonight with another critical RRC matchup at the Roundhouse in Ballard. First and foremost, Perry will look simply to get back on the court. The Jayettes are coming off a 62-37 loss to 3rd ranked Carlisle last Friday night. Perry played without two of their three top scorers due to injuries. All State point guard Maggie Lowe and shooting guard Grace Marburger will be both game time decisions tonight for Head Coach Mike Long.
“Regardless, I think we need to just get back to playing hard again all the time. “I have really struggled this year to get all my kids to play hard. Some times, younger kids think they’re playing hard when they are really not. I don’t have to worry about that with my seniors but the younger kids need those reminders. Sometimes, when you’re not one of the stars, you have the tendency to sit back and watch the other girls do the scoring. We can’t have that. All of our girls need to work and play hard and pick up in the intensity.”
Perry was defeated soundly the first time the two teams hooked up. The Bombers are currently ranked 4th in the 4A polls. Entering tonight, Ballard and Carlisle are both 7-1 in conference play while Perry sits at 6-2. A win tonight would keep the possibility of securing a top seed still alive for next month’s Regionals.
