Tonight begins one of the busiest varsity basketball five day periods the Rams have had in some time. Greene County plays girl/boy doubleheaders on the road tonight in Nevada, Thursday for make up action vs. Saydel in Des Moines, then at Gilbert on Friday. To cap off the week, the boys host non-conference opponent Panorama on Saturday in the middle school gym in Jefferson. Then, it back on the road for a twin bill in Alleman vs. North Polk on Feb. 3.
The games this week for the Greene County girls will see them face Class 3A number four Nevada, a Saydel team that just dropped out of the rankings before defeating Nevada on Friday night, and number 14 Gilbert. Coach Chad Morton’s Rams are 7-7 overall and 7-5 in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference. The boys won’t be facing as many rated teams, but the four games are against teams with a combined won/loss record of 38-19. Coach Jeramie Hinote’s team is 6-7 overall and 6-5 in the HOIAC entering play tonight.
