Have you been looking for volunteer opportunities but aren’t sure where to start? Or perhaps your group or organization could use some volunteer help but you’re having trouble finding people to step up?
A new group in Perry hopes to help bridge that gap. The VIP group, which stands for Volunteers in Perry, is sponsored by the Perry Hy-Vee and the brainchild of event coordinator Larry Vodenik.
The plan is to put together a master list of people who may be able to help out weekly, monthly or just for special events. Organizations can then ask for volunteers and the VIP group will help match people up. Vodenik says the VIP would meet monthly and different organizations would be invited to attend and share their needs.
Two public meetings have been scheduled to see if there’s interest in the community. The first will take place on Thursday, February 19th at 6pm and a second on Friday the 20th at 10am, both at the Perry Public Library.
Anyone who is interested in getting involved but unable to attend the meetings can contact Vodenik at 465-5321.
