Playing one of its best halves of the girls’ basketball season, Greene County pulled away from a 23-22 lead over Roland-Story (Story City) in Jefferson on Tuesday night to win 58-41. The victory snapped a six-game losing streak and saw the Rams end the regular season at 8-13 and they finished 7-9 in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play. R-S finished 9-9 in the league and 10-11 overall.

Seniors Kayla Mobley, Stacy Mears, Jolee Wessling, Tressa Rasmussen, Hannah Onken and Marissa Promes played the final homes games of their careers. Mobley tied a career scoring high with 27 points while Mears doubled her season average with 14. Greene County handled the ball extremely well and had just seven turnovers while the Norsemen had 15 turnovers. Greene County out scored R-S 35-19 in the second half. For the game, the Rams had unanswered scoring runs of seven, eight, six, seven, and six points.

The Rams open Class 3A region play on Saturday, Feb. 14 in Stuart vs. West Central Valley at 7 p.m. on KG98.
