The new group in Perry that aims to pair available volunteers with opportunities to help out is meeting tonight and tomorrow.

The Volunteers in Perry, or VIP group, is an idea thought up by Perry Hy-Vee event coordinator and long-time resident Larry Vodenik.  He says the plan is to put together a master list of people who may be able to help out weekly, monthly or just occasionally and then organizations can ask for information matching them up to those who may be available.

Tonight is the first of two public meetings to gauge interest from the community.  It takes place at 6pm in the Perry Public Library’s small meeting room and a second one is set for tomorrow at 10am, also at the library.

Anyone who is interested in learning more but unable to attend the meetings can contact Vodenik at 465-5321.
