The Perry boys basketball team will look to build off the momentum of the school’s first Raccoon River Conference championship in 12 years tonight when they open up District play at Gilbert against Boone. Perry defeated Boone twice during the regular season with the recent meeting exactly one week ago. Perry pulled away late to defeat the Torreadors 59-47.
“I expect this game to be similar to the one last Monday night,” added Head Coach Ned Menke. “We both know each other so well that it can be difficult to try and surprise the other team with what you want to do. I think there will be a few wrinkles and twists but for the most part, familiarity is pretty strong with the two teams.”
Perry will look to get Shammond Ivory going early tonight. Ivory fought foul trouble the last time he faced Boone. The conference’s top scorer bounced back in the regular season finale with 26 points against Saydel. Perry is 16-5 on the season while Boone enters 6-15. Tip off is at 6:30 and can be heard on KDLS and raccoonvalleyradio.com with Shawn Kenney. Gilbert and Ballard will play at 8:00 tonight in the second game of the doubleheader.
