Over half of the Panorama girls varsity basketball team this season was made up of seniors. Their top five leading scorers were seniors. Their top rebounder was a senior. Three seniors led them in steals, and three seniors led them in assists. With an almost unimaginable amount of senior leadership, expectations were high this year. Those expectations fizzled when the Panorama girls fell to division rival Des Moines Christian 32 to 31 in an overtime playoff game on Monday night. In that game, two freshman saw significant playing time, Devyn Kimble and Faith Powell. As he was leaving Dallas Center-Grimes High School after the season ending loss on Monday night, Panorama girls head coach Dan Druivenga remarked that he wasn’t worried about next year, despite the loss of over half his team. Kimble and Powell will be sophomores, and Druivenga says an impressive group of 8th graders are on their way to high school basketball.
