The public is invited to a free event sponsored by the Greene County Master Gardeners tonight.

Greene County ISU Extension Coordinator Lori Mannel says the annual kickoff event for the Master Gardeners will feature Nicole Jonas of Red Granite Farm in Boone.  She will share information about their five-acre farm where her family grows vegetables, fruits and perennial plants.  Jonas has a degree in Ornamental Horticulture from ISU and her husband also has a Horticulture degree in fruit and vegetable production from ISU.

Attendees will also be able to ask questions about starting their own gardens and other plants in general.

The event will begin at 7pm tonight at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson.  No pre-registration is required.

The proceeds from the Master Gardeners annual plant sale are used to put on their free annual event.  The next plant sale will be on May 16th on the fairgrounds in Jefferson.
