Deputies initiated a sexual abuse investigation involving several juvenile females in Greene County.

Friday, March 13th

A deputy was dispatched to an interior motion alarm activation in Grand Junction.  The key holder and the deputy determined the store to be secure.

A deputy was unable to locate a reported suspicious vehicle in the 1900 block of Q Avenue.

The sheriff was advised of a noise complaint involving a loud semi using his engine brake while driving through Churdan. The owner of the semi will be contacted about the concern.

The chief deputy sheriff and the Jefferson Police Department initiated a criminal investigation within the city and the county.

The sheriff was dispatched to the 400 block of East Main Street in Grand Junction for a pickup that was parked on the roadway.

The sheriff checked the identity of a male subject that was hitchhiking on Highway 30 near U Avenue.

A deputy was dispatched to the 700 block of Hill Street in Churdan to help find the owner of a dog running at large. The owner was located and advised  of the city ordinance on dogs at large.

A deputy was dispatched to 210th street and Orchard Avenue for the report of power lines sparking. Midland Power was advised of the electrical problem.

A deputy was advised of an erratic and careless semi-tractor driver on Highway 30 between S and R Avenues. The semi was located by the deputy as it approached Sparky’s One Stop in Jefferson. The deputy evaluated the driver and informed him of the concern.

Saturday, March 14th

A deputy was dispatched to an alarm activation at the Casey’s General Store in Grand Junction. The key holder to the store and the deputy determined the alarm was accidental.

The Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office advised dispatchers at the Greene County Law Enforcement Center of a single vehicle rollover accident on 330th Street near F Avenue that was being investigated by an Iowa State Patrol Officer. The deputy assisted with traffic control until the vehicle was removed. The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

A deputy assisted a DNR Conservation Enforcement Officer with locating several ATV’s that were being ridden on public property near the Raccoon River Bridge on Highway 30. The DNR Officer will be following up with citations for the ATV drivers.

A deputy was asked to transport an inmate from the Greene County Jail to the Greene County Medical Center ER for a medical evaluation.

A deputy was dispatched to the 600 block of Lincoln Street in Scranton to speak with a resident about his burning of explosive materials in a bon fire.

A deputy, an Iowa State Patrol Officer and the Grand Junction Fire and Rescue all responded to the report of smoke in a residence in the 500 block of 3rd Street in Rippey. Upon the arrival of the Iowa State Trooper and deputy, they  extinguished a small fire within a clothes dryer in the home. No damage estimate was determined at that time.

Sunday, March 15th

A deputy was asked to check the status of a Curt Forbes Residential inmate that was on furlough in Scranton. The male subject was found to be safe at a specified residence.

A deputy and a Jefferson Police Officer assisted the Perry Police Department with locating a Dallas County juvenile that had missing overnight. The juvenile female was found to be safe at a residence in Jefferson by the police officer.

A deputy while on routine patrol investigated three male subjects in a vehicle under the Union Pacific Railroad overpass at Grand Junction. After an investigation and questioning of the three, Drake Patrick Dayton 18, of Jefferson was arrested for Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug paraphernalia.

The animal control officer was dispatched to Scranton to try and locate several dogs reported to be running at large throughout the town.

A deputy contacted a Greene County resident after he did not pay for gas at the Sparky’s One Stop in Guthrie Center. The individual did advise the deputy that he would return and pay for the fuel.

A deputy assisted a stranded motorist with starting her vehicle that had stalled on  Highway 4, north of Churdan.

In all cases when a defendant has been charged, this is merely an accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
