Heath Tellen is in his first year as a history teacher at Greene County High School. He’s also the girls’ golf coach, which is also new for him after coaching boys’ golf for 10 years in Underwood, IA. His first Ram team has 10 girls on it, and several are brand new to the game. The coach said it’s all about improving, and that means both physically and mentally. “Golf is such a mental game. We may be at the point where sometimes, at our ability, we’ll play a par four like a par five, and not get stressed out about those numbers. It’s all about managing your game and not letting a bad hole turn into a terrible hole, and not letting one bad hole turn into four or five bad holes. We’re going to work on that. The mental part of the game is going to be a big part of our approach.”

The Rams host Carroll High at The Hill near Grand Junction on Monday, April 6 to open the season. The Greene County boys open their season, also against Carroll, on April 6, in Carroll.
