There has been a new attitude, new work outs, new music blaring over the press box loudspeaker during practice and even some new faces as the Perry Jayette track team gets ready for the outdoor opener tonight with the Davis Relays. Matt Hardy enters his first year guiding a Jayette program that struggled to score points consistently last year.
“I want our kids to simply come out and compete tonight. I have structured our lineup for tonight’s meet to maximize the recovery time and give our girls the best chance to go out and let it all out. It’s really quite simple for tonight…go out and do everything as hard as you can and compete.”
The Jayettes have seen their participation numbers grow this year which Hardy hopes will correlate to more team points. Emi Einck returns as the field events coach and will work with the throwers led by Amy Marckres and Taylor Lathrum. The Jayettes return 1 state qualifier in sophomore Emma Olejniczak. Running starts at 5:00 tonight.
