Around 90 Perry Area Chamber of Commerce members gathered at the Hotel Pattee last night for their annual dinner and awards night.
During the program, Chamber Board members who chair the three new bureaus: events and programs, business development and marketing and promotions spoke about what has been accomplished thus far and what’s planned for the coming months.
Past President Mark Powell was recognized for his service to the board, as were “unpaid intern” Andy Wolter and former Chamber events and programs coordinator Chrissy Danger.
This year’s Spirit of Perry, or Business of the Year award, was given to Hy-Vee. Citizen of the Year is City Administrator Butch Niebuhr. The Volunteer of the Year award was given to Darrell and Ernestine Bever for their work with the Clothes Closet. And Samantha Smith with Raccoon Valley Radio was selected for the Young Professional of the Year award.
The night capped off with a live pie auction in support of the 4th of July fireworks. Between the live and silent auction items a total of $3,120 was raised.
Join us here on AM 1310 KDLS Thursday morning for the annual Fireworks Drive as we continue efforts to raise $10,000 for this year’s 4th of July.
