Instead of taking a day off Tuesday after the Panorama Kip Janvrin Relays in Panora were cancelled by the weather, Greene County senior Alex Rasmussen and his fellow throwers worked out indoors. Rasmussen placed seventeenth in 2014 at State in Class 3A in both the shot put and discus throw. The Rams do not have another meet scheduled until Monday, April 13 in Carroll and Rasmussen told Raccoon Valley Radio what the extra time allows him to do. “It gives you a little extra time to work on your steps and get focused on the next meets.”

The Rams have had two outdoor meets and Rasmussen did better in the meet where the temperatures were warmer. He explains how temperature difference can affect a thrower. “The last meet was really cold, so it was hard to get your body warmed up and get good throw in. The meet before it (the weather) was pretty nice, so you have that advantage of already having your body warmed up and you can throw good.”

The Panorama meet will not be made up.
