Earlier this week, the Greene County Board of Supervisors approved the five-year construction program for the secondary roads department.
Three projects are planned for the 2016 fiscal year. A bridge deck replacement project will take place on the Raccoon River Bridge on County Road N-65. The $1.7 million project will be funded with federal aid money for a total of $1,360,000 and $340,000 from the County’s Farm-to-Market funds. The second project is to pave ¾-mile on Trinity Avenue around the new Bauer Built facility in Paton. $375,000 of local money will be combined with $425,000 through the Revitalize Iowa’s Sound Economy grant. The final 2016 fiscal year construction project will be overlaying pavement on County Road N-65 from E-39 to the Greene and Calhoun County line. That project will be paid with Farm-to-Market funds for a total of $1,666,000.
Only one project is scheduled for 2017. It is a $450,000 bridge replacement on County Road E-39. Funds from Farm-to-Market will be used to pay for that project.
Two projects are on the docket for 2018. Another bridge replacement project will happen over Hardin Creek at Parkland Avenue. The $420,000 project will be paid for through Farm-to-Market and federal aid monies. An additional $1 million in Farm-to-Market funds will also be used to do various pavement patching projects around the County.
A $2,011,000 project is scheduled for 2019. Farm-to-Market funds will be used to pay to resurface and widen the road on County Road E-57 from P-14 to Iowa Highway 4.
The last three projects are planned for 2020. A $400,000 project is to replace the road on County Road E-63 over Greenbriar Creek. $80,000 will be used from Farm-to-Market and $320,000 from federal aid monies. The last one is for several pavement patching projects around the County that will cost $500,000 with money to come from Farm-to-Market.
All projects will cost a total of $10,147,000.
