The City of Guthrie Center will soon be purchasing two new lawnmowers. The City Council voted unanimously at Monday’s meeting to purchase two new Dixie Chopper brand lawnmowers from Neese, Incorporated of Grand Junction. The lawnmowers will cost $13,000 each and the city will be trading in their five year old Dixie Choppers for five-thousand dollars each. Streets Superintendent Bob Secoy told the council that while the current lawnmowers are still in okay condition, they are starting to require more regular maintenance and have accrued about 1,000 hours of service. Due to an arrangement with the dealership, the city will soon take ownership of the new mowers but won’t have to make their first payment until July 1st, which is the start of the next budgetary fiscal year.
