To repeat as Raccoon River Conference champions, the ADM girls soccer team is tasked with replacing a number of quality defenders lost to graduation.
So far, so good for the Tigers, albeit in a small sample size.
ADM hasn’t allowed a goal in its two games this season, both wins, using the same starting defenders in both contest: freshman Carli Hansen at left-back and junior Rachel Origer at right-back, and junior Carmen Angel and senior Jenny Wicks in the middle.
Despite the excellent performance of that unit through the first two games, ADM girls soccer head coach Kelsey Dolder maintained that the starting four isn’t locked in for the rest of the season.
“I think there’s potential for it to switch around. We have a lot of defenders on our team; we have a lot of different options,” Dolder said. “So I think it kind of just depends on the game and who are opponent is, and it’s definitely not set.”
The girls soccer squad will try to improve to 3-0 with a road contest Friday night at Norwalk.
