The Paton-Churdan High School Prom is this weekend.
Junior Class Advisor and Principal Annie Smith says this year’s theme is “Let’s Go Back to the 80’s.”
The decorations includes 1980’s prom dresses and suits, Rubik’s Cubes, movie posters, boom boxes and working Nintendos and Ataris for students to enjoy. The grand march will begin the evening at the school building in Churdan at 6:30pm on Saturday. In case of rain, the march will be moved to the school’s auditorium. Dinner and the dance will be at 209 Main Restaurant in Paton from 7:30-11pm. Then it’s back to the school for after prom from 11:30pm-2am Sunday.
Smith notes that they usually have prom in a neighboring community, but she’s very excited to have prom in Greene County this year.
“I think it’s great that we can stay right here (in Greene County). I think it allows the kids to have just a little bit more fun (and) take that driving time out of it. Just knowing that their safety to me is my number one concern and knowing that we’re taking that out (commuting to another location) really makes me feel better.”
She wants to thank all the junior class parents and sponsors for supporting this year’s high school prom.
