Perry sophomore Noah Wilkening is not having any type of sophomore slump this spring for the Perry boys golf squad. Wilkening showed flashes of consistent golf late last year in his freshman campaign, but has been a pillar of consistency early on this year for the Bluejays.
“I think it all comes down to confidence with Noah,” state Perry Coach Nick Field. “Last year he would really hit some tough stretches on one or two holes and that seemed to shake his confidence a little. I think he was timid early in the season golfing with a lot of juniors and seniors but as the season went along, you could see the confidence building. He’s a kid who has golfed a lot and has really looked good so far this year.”
Wilkening fired a one over par in Perry’s upset win over Ballard in the very first match of the year. He led the Bluejays Tuesday at Copper Creek as Perry picked up two more conference wins. Perry will look to keep it rolling today when they travel to Woodward for the Hawk Invite.
