Today is National Administrative Assistant’s Day.

It’s a time to recognize the work of administrative assistants, secretaries and receptionists and what they do to help organizations and businesses run smoothly.

Karen White and Kathy Booth work as administrative assistants at the Greene County Law Enforcement Center (LEC) in Jefferson.  Some of their job responsibilities are to direct people to the correct resource for a particular case, issue gun permits, serving civil papers for attorneys, holding sheriff’s sales of forfeiture properties and scanning records electronically to other departments.

With all jobs, there are positives and negatives.  White says one of the difficulties is not always being able to help someone who comes into the LEC.  How, she tells Raccoon Valley Radio one of the  favorite parts of her job.

“A lot of the memorable things are when a panic-parent comes and they think their child is lost.  But we find out that it’s just more of matter of miscommunication thing.  But to finally see that parent back with that child that’s a real rewarding thing to know is that we didn’t lose that child.”

Sheriff Steve Haupert appreciates the hard work that both White and Booth give to the LEC.

“We just can’t say enough about the things that they do for the (Jefferson) police department and the Sheriff’s office.  They work very well and (are) always willing to do anything for each agency.”

Take time to thank an administrative assistant for all the work they do to help their respective businesses or organizations.
