April is recognized as National Car Care Month.
Nick Lestina with McAtee Tire and Service in Jefferson has some maintenance reminders to get your vehicle ready for the warmer months ahead. He recommends you get your vehicle’s cooling system checked. He notes that the sooner you get your vehicle’s air-conditioning checked, the easier it will be to use when its hot out.
Other suggestions are making sure that you have properly working windshield wiper blades and that your tires have appropriate tread depth. If the tire tread is thinning, Lestina says there is an increased risk of hydroplaning when it’s raining. He adds that you should replace your tires when the tread is down to 5/32-inch or lower. You should also replace your wiper blades at least once a year.
Check with your local mechanic for other car care maintenance options to make sure your vehicle runs smooth this spring and summer.
