This is a light week as far as competition goes for the Greene County High School golf teams. Neither the girls or boys play until Thursday of this week, so with good weather forecast, the golfers have a chance to work on their game and continue the improvement they’ve shown throughout the season.
Girls’ coach Heath Telleen started the season with just two returning letter winners, and even those girls had limited experience in the game of golf. The girls have improved throughout and placed second on Friday in the Southeast Valley (Gowrie) tournament at Dayton despite not having one of their top golfers play.
Dave Destival coaches the boys and although they’ve not broken into the win column yet, the last two outings on Thursday and Friday last week produced the lowest team scores of the season. There are no letter winners returning from a season ago for the boys and very little golf experience.
The coaches and players hope to continue improving and make a strong push in the final weeks of their respective seasons.
