Several entities in Dallas County gathered late last month to review the County’s Hazard Mitigation Plan.
Emergency Management Coordinator Barry Halling says the annual review is part of the plan maintenance process to assist with the required five year update of the plan, which will happen in 2018.
Representatives from the County, incorporated cities and school districts were in attendance. Dallas County’s plan was approved by the Federal Emergency Management Agency in 2013.
Halling says the purpose of the meeting was to review the plan’s strategy to reduce the vulnerability of people and property in the area to the impacts of natural hazards. It also takes a look at what has been completed so far and reviews the continued relevance of the plan.
Public comments and questions are being accepted through May 15th in regards to the plan review and planning meeting.
