Perry had a tough time figuring out Ballard goalkeeper Alex Silberstein but Ivan Garcia figured it out at the 65th minute on a free kick as Perry defeated Ballard 1-0 at Dewey Field. The win keeps Perry in first place in the Raccoon River Conference with a 5-0 mark. Garcia scored following a Ballard foul and hit the net from 18 yards out to give Perry a 1-0 lead. The Jays dominated possession all night and Perry goalkeeper Jorge Soto faced only three shots.
“We didn’t play all that well today,” smiled Head Coach Gary Overla. “But, a win is a win and we will take them all of the time. This win sets up a huge conference championship game next week in Adel.”
Perry improves to 9-2 and 5-0 in the RRC. The Jays will host DCG next Monday night before the conference championship next Tuesday in southern Dallas County.
