The ADM boys golf team placed 3rd at the six-team, 18-hole Gilbert Invite Saturday at the Ames Golf and Country Club in what was the Tiger’s final tuneup for the postseason, as both the boys and girls golf teams play in the Raccoon River Conference tournament Monday.
Gilbert won the event by shooting a 288, followed by Humboldt at 298 and ADM at 304. ADM senior Joe Vest was the tournament’s runner-up, his 71 two strokes behind medalist Garret Jensen of Gilbert. The Gilbert Tigers dominated the podium, grabbing six of the top eight spots, which are all awarded a medal.
ADM’s scoring golfers were rounded out by Ben Sandquist and Brody Boston at 77 and Tyler Whyle at 81. Other non-scoring ADM golfers at the event included Jacob Schumaker (81), Ethan Herron (88), Matt West (91) and Logan Lemke (97).
The boys RRC meet Monday takes place in Boone, while the girls will be at Carlisle.
