Friday, May 8th
A deputy was dispatched to the 209 Main Restaurant in Paton to investigate the theft of personal property. Surveillance cameras will be checked to determine a time and suspect.
A deputy was asked to help locate a male subject, that is now living in Churdan, in reference to medical decisions for his son now living in another county.
A deputy is investigating a harassment concern involving a Greene County resident.
A deputy was dispatched to the 700 block of B Avenue to investigate a trespassing complaint.
Two deputies were dispatched to help locate a juvenile male that did not get off the school bus in the 2100 block of P Avenue. The juvenile was later located by a deputy at the school playground in Grand Junction. The deputy transported the male to the Greene County Law Enforcement Center to be picked up by his parents.
A deputy was dispatched to the Paton Library to help mediate a verbal altercation.
Saturday, May 9th
A deputy was unable to locate a reported unoccupied pickup at the intersection of 270th Street and Highway 4.
The Sheriff provided traffic control at the bike trail crossing at 252nd Street for the Market to Market Run to Des Moines.
A deputy was asked to check the welfare of a Greene County resident that was reported to be distraught and off of his medication.
A deputy was asked to transport a stray dog to the animal shelter in Jefferson.
A deputy was unable to locate a reported dog running at large on Highway 30 east of Grand Junction.
A deputy was advised of criminal mischief to the siding of a home in the 200 block of 19th Street in Grand Junction.
A deputy checked the identity of a male hitchhiker on Highway 30 and Eaton Avenue. The deputy transported the male to a motel in Jefferson.
A deputy was dispatched to a reported suspicious male subject that was near the Park in Paton. A male fitting that description was never located at that time.
A deputy was dispatched to Churdan to investigate the report of a suspicious minivan or SUV near the park. The identity of the vehicle and driver were determined and were reported to be looking for their dog.
A deputy and the Churdan Fire Department responded to a grass fire on 150Th Street and H Avenue. The fire was extinguished without incident.
A deputy was not able to locate two reported dogs running at large near 150th Street and N Avenue.
A deputy and the Grand Junction Fire and Rescue were dispatched to a reported single vehicle accident that occurred at Squirrel Hollow Park. A vehicle that was being driven by Delaney Moriah Spencer 21, of Coon Rapids ran off the roadway and into a ravine in the park area. After an investigation by the deputy, Delaney Spencer was arrested for OWI 1st Offense and issued a citation for Failure to Maintain Control.
A deputy was dispatched to a motorcycle accident in the 200 block of 18th Street in Grand Junction. A 2014 Harley Davidson motorcycle that was being driven by Randy Linn Delp 55, of rural Grand Junction was southbound on 18th Street when he drove off the roadway and struck several parked vehicles at 207 N 18th Street. Randy Delp was thrown from his motorcycle after striking the second vehicle. Delp was transported to the Greene County Medical Center by personnel from the Greene County Emergency Medical Services for his injuries and later taken by Mercy Air to the Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. Damage to the two vehicles Delp struck was estimated to be $3000 each, with his motorcycle a total loss. Charges are pending DCI Lab results.
A deputy was dispatched to a reported fight in progress at Squirrel Hollow Park. Most all parties involved had left the scene before the deputy’s arrival.
Sunday, May 10th
A deputy was dispatched to a noise complaint in the 500 block of 11th Street in Grand Junction.
A deputy was dispatched to a suspicious vehicle reported to be near a residence in the 100 block of 210th Street. The deputy located the vehicle in Carroll County and initiated a traffic stop on that car. The deputy subsequently arrested Brett Dale Neal 39, of Cedar Rapids for Driving While Barred and Driving While Suspended X 20.
A deputy assisted with a medical call in the 900 block of Main Street in Scranton.
Four members of the Greene County Sheriff’s Office patrolled the western part of Greene County during the severe weather outbreak.
A deputy was dispatched to a location at 240th Street and K Avenue to investigate the report of trespassing. People were reported to be entering the old motel at the top of Danger Hill on old Highway 30 west of Jefferson.
A deputy was dispatched to 220th Street (Highway 30) and B Avenue for a vehicle that was in the ditch. There was no damage to the vehicle and the owner stated the car would be removed on Monday.
In all cases when a defendant has been charged, this is merely an accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
