During a discussion at Tuesday’s meeting, none of the Guthrie County Supervisors expressed full confidence in the idea of the County providing law enforcement to the City of Guthrie Center. Supervisor Jerry Caraher says that under almost no circumstance does he see himself voting in support of the 28E agreement and the other four supervisors expressed skepticism in wondering if the preliminary plans presented to the City by the Sheriff’s Office would be the best decision for the County. A side discussion expressed concern about rural taxpayers paying taxes to support law enforcement officers who serve only a small portion of the County, Guthrie Center. The Board of Supervisors will meet with Guthrie Center Mayor Denny Kunkle, Councilman Randy Nickel and City Administrator Laura Imerman, as well as representatives from the Sheriff’s Office tomorrow at 9 a.m. inside of the Courthouse.
