The Jefferson City Council met last night in regular session.
The Council approved a change order of $4,652.89 to Hydro-Klean, LLC for additional work on rehabilitating a manhole and sealing three chimneys, the first pay estimate to Hydro-Klean of $56,290.25 was also approved for work completed on the first division of the manhole rehab project. The Council also approved the first pay estimate to Scharnweber Water Conditioning for $129,790.37 for work done on utilities on the north end of the City.
The Council set May 26th as the public hearing date for three items. The first is for the general obligation urban renewal bond issue for several utility projects, the second one is to replace $300,000 in the general fund from purchasing the golf course and the third item is for the 2015 fiscal year budget amendments.
The Council also approved an agreement for financial services with Piper-Jaffery on the urban renewal bond issue and acquiring the property at 205 North Wilson Street.
During the open forum, Peg Dohrer, Assistant Health Services Director with New Opportunities asked the Council for a letter of support for a grant for a youth outreach program. The Council agreed to give a letter of support.
Jefferson resident Don Orris spoke to the Council on two issues. He told the Council that crews possibly damaged his prairie grass with their equipment when they were rehabbing a manhole. City Engineer John Milligan said the City would replace any grass that didn’t grow back. Orris also talked about getting a new animal shelter for Greene County. When asked, the Council agreed that they would work with the County to move forward on the project and figure out cost sharing once costs for a new facility were determined.
City Administrator Mike Palmer reported that they are closing the application process for a new building inspector/code enforcer on Friday and will hold interviews next week.
