The Perry boys soccer team accomplished their first goal of the season…literally as the Bluejays captured the Raccoon River Conference Title Tuesday night defeating ADM 1-0.   The lone goal coming from Jesus Rodriguez at the 48th minute in the second half.  Rodriguez leads the team with 13 goals on the season.  Jorge Soto earned his 10th shut out of the season turning away 5 ADM shots on the night.

“I was really proud of our kids tonight,” smiled a drenched Gary Overla after he was congratulated with a bucket of water by his squad.  “We really weren’t threatened tonight offensively as our kids showed great discipline and worked the game plan like we told them.  It certainly was a big victory for us and hopefully we have a few more as we hit the home stretch.”

Perry improves to 11-2 on the season and will try to finish the conference schedule perfect Thursday when they host Carroll.  ADM falls to 12-4 on the season and 4-1 in RRC action.

Perry lost one of their top defenders late in the game when Ian Velasco went down with what appeared to be a knee injury.  Overla told Raccoon Valley Radio that Velasco is scheduled to be evaluated today and his status is unknown at this hour.
