The 2015 state cash rental rates have been released. According to Iowa State Extension, Guthrie County averaged $226 per acre of cash rent for corn and soybeans. That’s the lowest in a region which includes Audubon, Calhoun, Carroll, Crawford, Greene, Harrison, Ida, Monona, Sac, Shelby and Woodbury Counties. Among the sixteen Guthrie County responders, the most profitable acre brought in $360 in cash rent and the lowest brought in $140. Guthrie County was one of a few counties to report the rent rate on other cash crops. Alfalfa brings an average of $115 per acre, improved permanent pasture brings in $80 per acre and unimproved permanent pasture has a cash rental rate of $59 per acre.
