The Perry Jayette softball team will travel to Alleman tonight as the Jayettes take on North Polk in a 7:30 varsity first pitch.  Perry is coming off an 18 win season and will look to continue last year’s success despite the loss of three seniors.  Julie Diw, Kylie Brandt and Lindsey Kunch all graduated and provided a lot of runs over the past 4 years.  Perry will look to a younger group to carry on the big offensive numbers that the Jayettes have put up over the past couple of years.

“It’s no secret that losing those three girls will be a challenge to replace,” added Head Coach Tina Kenney.  “They brought a lot to the game but I am confident that we have a young group who have patiently been waiting for their chance to show what they can do.  The spring ball has went really well and I think we are going to be an exciting offensive team this year.   I think you will notice that we are going to score our runs in a different manner compared to what we have done in the past.   Julie (Diw) and the other two seniors last year provided a lot of power but I think this year’s team will be better on the bases and utilize our team speed a little bit more.”

Senior Kate Whelchel, Emma Olejniczak, Rachel Kinney, Alyssa Krueger, and Victoria Hegstrom represent Perry’s returning starters.

Perry and North Polk will play at 7:30 tonight in Alleman.
