Coach Tom Kennedy’s Greene County Rams were rained out of their scheduled season opener Tuesday against PCM. The Rams and Mustangs will try to make up the missed contest at 6:30 p.m. Thursday (May 28) at the City Diamond on East Lincolnway.
After being delayed one night, the Rams host Colfax-Mingo tonight to start the Greene County season. Air time is set for 7:15 p.m. on KG98 with first pitch around 7:30 p.m. Although this is the first game of the season for Greene County, the Tigerhawks played on Memorial Day and lost 12-0 to Eddyville-Blakesburg, the 2014 Class 2A State runner-up. Greene County placed third in the Class 3A portion of the State Tournament last summer and went 29-8 overall, finishing behind PCM in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference. C-M was fourth in the league last year and had a winning season overall. The Rams beat the Tigerhawks twice a season ago in low scoring games, 4-0, and 1-0.
This is the last scheduled trip to Jefferson for C-M, as the school is leaving the HOIAC following summer sports.
