The Greene County Board of Supervisors met yesterday in regular session.

The Board appointed Bruce Chafee to the Veteran’s Affairs Commission and Mike Wyatt as head custodian.  The Board then approved and appropriated $460,092 in revenues and $453,001 in expenses to its 2015 fiscal year budget following a public hearing.

Jack Pedersen requested assistance from the Supervisors to help with tearing down a house at 201 Ayner Street in Dana.  The Supervisors agreed that they would help in some way with the project.  They will make their decision once bid estimates to demolish the house were received.  The Secondary Roads Department agreed to provide dirt to level out the ground once the house is torn down.

John Turpin with Thomas Jefferson Gardens requested a property tax abatement of their property on the southeast corner of the downtown square in Jefferson.  Turpin said that the Greene County Chamber wanted to start their construction late last year and so they were prompted to finish up their project.  The Gardens is currently leasing the building that sits in the middle of the property to the Chamber on a two-year contract.  The taxes that the non-profit organization is applying for is $2,412.  The Supervisors agreed that they would abate the taxes.  Approval of the abatement is expected at next week’s meeting.

The Board then approved a contract for $3,600 in software from The Compliance Group for the County’s Hospital Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) policy.

Finally, several drainage district assessments and waiver rates were approved by the Supervisors.  A total of $91,026.80 for 14 drainage districts in Greene County were assessed at various rates with a six percent waiver rate that landowners can apply for if their assessment is over $500.  A total of seven other drainage districts with other counties were approved for  $30,417 at a six percent waiver rate.
