May is National School Board Appreciation Month.
Greene County School Board President Ashley Johnston is finishing up her first year as president on the new seven-person school board. She was with the East Greene School Board before both East Greene and Jefferson-Scranton reorganized last year.
“Having worked with the two districts (and) having worked together in the last several years, we’re very comfortable with each other. I believe that we work very well as a board and the transition has gone very smoothly because of that.”
Superintendent Tim Christensen appreciates all the work that school board members go through from work sessions, to regular board meetings to attending conventions.
“Can’t thank them enough for the work that they do. (I’m) pleased with this board, there’s no one on the Board that has a personal agenda. Every decision that they make is in the best interest of the kids. Again, great group to work with and can’t thank them enough and encourage the community to thank them for the work that they do.”
Johnston echos Christensen’s comment about achieving the Board’s goal which is to make decisions that benefit students and she believes that they have done that again this year.
