There’s no excuse to be bored or not have the opportunity to be active this summer if you live in the Perry area. The Parks and Recreation Department has several events and leagues coming up for people of all ages.
But, new Parks and Recreation Director John Anderson says it’s about more than just taking part in a sport.
“Anytime you bring different people together, it brings the community together to work for a common goal. All too often you see places that are divided, cities that are divided, towns that are divided, there’s 100 different groups trying to do 100 different things. I’d love to be able to see more utilization to bring everyone together. I think the Parks and Recreation department in the City of Perry is on a good course to doing that.”
This summer’s adult sand volleyball league will play Wednesday evenings starting at 6:30pm on June 3rd. The four person mixed, two men and two women, league plays at the sand volleyball courts at Wiese Park through July 22nd.
The cost to participate is $90 per team and registrations are due by this Friday at 8pm.
In addition, registration continues for the summer swim team for kids ages 6 to 18. Those wanting to participate have until June 1st to sign up and the competitive season runs through July 11th.
