Area fire crews battled a small fire in the basement of a home on Saturday night in Greene County.
Sheriff Steve Haupert says at 9:11pm, Scranton and Jefferson Fire departments, Greene County Emergency Medical Services and a deputy responded to the fire at 664 280th Street, south of Scranton.
Haupert states that the homeowner, Richard Fiedler, called in the fire and got everyone out safely. As crews arrived on scene, the house was full of smoke, but firefighters were able to contain the fire in the basement. Most of the damage was to a television, a karaoke machine, a bed and the basement ceiling. There was also some smoke damage to the upstairs level of the home.
No one was injured in the incident and the cause of the fire has not been determined.
Fire crews were on scene for about one and a half hours.
