Greene County has risen to third in Class 3A in the latest Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union softball rankings. The Rams are 9-0 overall and 6-0 in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference. Benton Community (14-0) takes over the top spot, replacing Solon (9-1), which drops one position to second. The Rams are up two rungs from fifth, jumping ahead of Center Point-Urbana and East Marshall (Le Grand), the two teams the Rams defeated in the 2014 State Tournament, but both were rated ahead of Greene County to start the season.

Coach Tom Kennedy’s Rams will try for their tenth straight victory tonight when they host HOIAC rival North Polk (Alleman) tonight on KG98 from the City Diamond on East Lincolnway. Coverage begins at 7:15 p.m. with first pitch at 7:30 p.m.
