Greene County had 11 hits and senior Marissa Promes was sharp on Monday night when the Rams defeated North Polk (Alleman) in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference softball in Jefferson. The 4-1 final put the Class 3A third rated Rams at 10-0 this season and 7-0 in the HOIAC. The Comets fell to 6-6 overall and 3-4 in the conference.

Promes walked no one, struck out two, and hit the same batter twice to improve to 9-0 on the pitching rubber. She gave up three hits. The Rams had three errors and the NP run was unearned.

Greene County scored single runs in the first and third innings and two runs in the fifth. The first run was unearned and senior Hannah Onken doubled in the second run of the game. The final two runs scored on junior Sydney Koch’s double. Koch, the number eight hitter, also singled and is batting .533 and was robbed by center fielder Lilly Lomica or she would have had three hits on the night. Senior Bailey Godwin is right at .500 after getting a single in three trips. Godwin bats ninth. Promes, senior Tressa Rasmussen, and junior Carleigh Paup each singled twice, and senior Kayla Mobley had a base hit.

The Rams host non-conference opponent Perry (1-7) tonight at the East Lincolnway diamond at 7:30 p.m. The game can be heard on KG98 and will be streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
